The talented knitwear designer Laura Patterson is the artist behind Fiber Dreams. This is her 4th time hosting a blog giveaway! Thank you Laura for your generosity and for sharing your beautiful work with us.
Laura shares the story behind her Vinterbar cowl..."According to my tech editor the romance text I first wrote for this pattern needed a “sleek Swedish guy to give it new life.” That got my brain reeling, but not with anything that is printable. Whew. Moving on… I’m a life-long book collector. In addition to piles of books of knitting, fiction, art, counted cross-stitch, needlepoint, gardening, as well as a fair number of other things, I have always been attracted to stitch dictionaries, and little books of patterns on a given theme. All three motifs in this design came from a slim little volume of Swedish colorwork designs that I’ve had so long that I no longer have a clue where or when I came across it. Once I had these lovely motifs working together, I needed a name for my design. I thought that something Swedish would be appropriate. A dear friend of mine happens to have grown up in Sweden, so I went to her for inspiration. Without my telling her, she thought the main motif looked like berries, and so suggested Vinterbär, which is Swedish for winter berries. Perfect!"
Vinterbar is worked in the round, features folded hems, and
three different colorwork motifs.
Yarn: worsted weight; 125 yards MC, and 175 yards CC. 1 skein of 2 contrasting colorways of my Sandrasingh 1 Ply Merino Worsted will work beautifully.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 27 rows = 4" in stitch pattern in the round Skills: k2tog, two-color knitting in the round, provisional cast on. Notions: 1 stitch marker required, smooth waste yarn of same or slightly finer thickness, in a contrasting color for provisional cast on, yarn needle. Stitch patterns: Charted. Difficulty: Intermediate.

Lost Labyrinth is the pattern I like most and the colors I choose are lime and true blue
My goodness, I had to go a lot of places to earn entries for this giveaway. Not being very computer savvy I got lost a couple of times, but hopefully have completed everything. M favorite pattern on your site is the Cecily, it is a beautiful lace design that is not overdone and flows from one motif to the next. Choosing colors was really hard because I liked many combinations however, I settled on the True blue and La Boheme. I followed you on Twitter and tweeted about this contest on my page. I followed you on Ravelry and Laura Patterson and commented in the welcome section on each. I announced the giveaway on my facebook page and liked your facebook page as well as wrote a comment about the giveaway. I think the only thing that I missed was posting on a blog page, because I don't have a blog. So here's keeping my fingers crossed that I win, I love the cowl and your yarn. Thanks for the contest.
