Eliza Shawl

The preliminary results of my "New Year Knitting Poll" are in (but you still have time to share your opinion, poll is located on the right) and "knitting for yourself" is at an all time high.

Eliza Shawl
Robyn Gallimore's snugly warm wrap, the beautiful Eliza Shawl is the perfect project to kick off 2013! Knit in Kauni Effektgarn 8/2 this colorful triangular shawl makes perfect use of the long color changes of Effektgarn.

The motif is based on an old Anatolian pattern and Robyn thinks Eliza Doolittle might have liked to wear this on those cool London mornings.  Knit in the round using a steek, which is then cut and wrapped in a stocking stitch binding to neaten up the edges.

And Robyn Notes: EQ is the color used in the sample. Some of the Kauni Effektgarn colorways with less contrast might not work well as you will need good contrast. Pairing it with a darker background color might solve that issue or using only the darkest of the colors for the background and only the lightest for the figure.

Finished Size: 71" x 31.5"
Yarn: 1000-1200 yards Kauni Effektgarn 8/2 (100% wool, yardage varies per ball)
Needles: US 6 (4mm)
Gauge: 6 sts = 1" in two color motif in stockinette stitch
