Summerside Shawl and 2 Free Patterns!

Introducing Judy Marple's, of Purl Bumps, Summerside, a semi circular shawl design worked from the top down with an exquisite deep lace border. Its designed to be knit in 100 grams of a fingering weight sock yarn, making it a great stash buster project or a great chance to try a new sock yarn! Malabrigo Sock would be ideal but visit my Fingering Weight yarn section for more ideas.

Judy Marples joined Sandrasingh.com in February of this year, but she's been knitting since she was a child and designing knitwear since 2009.  We're delighted to be working with Judy, her designs are always beautiful and her patterns always knittable.  Judy loves luxury fibers and her patterns reflect the strengths and beauty of each she uses.  But she's especially fond of Malabrigo.   She discovered Merino Worsted in 2007 and its been a match made in heaven for all of us!

Recently Malabrigo took a moment to interview Judy and you can read it on their blog.  Judy also designed two very special accessories in Malabrigo that we'd like to share with you, the Free patterns for the Knit Night Hat and the Woodsie Gloves, both available on Sandrasingh.com

The Knit Night hat is a slouchy adult sized hat created in 1 skein of Malabrigo Rios and features a textured stitch on the brim that is ideal for showcasing variegated yarns as well as solids. You will find the pattern easy enough to work while chatting with friends at Knit Night or anywhere else.

The fingerless gloves Woodsie use less than one skein of Malabrigo Merino Worsted and feature a rustic little four-stitch pattern, an afterthought thumb and a double cuff that can be rolled down over the fingers for extra warmth.   These would make awesome gloves for Men too.
