Introducing Ilga Leja's Kauni Messenger Bag

Combine the gradual striping sequence of a unique yarn like Kauni Effekt with the geometric construction Ilga Leja's Messenger Bag and you will have a one-of-a-kind carry-all.

Knit in three separate pieces that are then pieced together and felted in the washing machine, this satchel is the perfect size for your everyday needs. Large enough to carry a laptop computer or your library books, without being oversized.

Kauni Effekt 8/2 is held tripled using the Navajo Triple-Ply Technique. This technique is fully described (with detailed photos) in the pattern instructions.

Size: One size (45 cm./18 in. wide x 38 cm./15 in. high—with flap closed)
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Suggested Yarn: 600 m./656 yds. of bulky weight wool yarn that can be felted or Kauni Effekt 8/2 held tripled. (If using Kauni Effekt 8/2, this amount needs to be tripled = 1800 m./1968 yds.)
Needles: 7.0 mm. (US 10 ¾) and 6.5 mm. (US 10 ½)
Gauge: 14 sts x 19 rows = 10 cm./4 in. square (before felting)
