Summer and Gift Knits!

I know a heat wave is blasting across this great nation, but Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are less then 6 months away! Have you been thinking about your gift knitting?

Let me just give you a few ideas....

Harmonia's Rings Cowl

If you're a long time Sandrasingh.com customer you may remember when I introduced Sivia Hardings' Harmonia’s Rings Cowl, it was very popular and remains so. It knits up beautifully in Berroco's Ultra Alpaca which is now 25% Off.

Sivia has taken this lovely accessory and has grown it into a tunic sweater, the Harmonia's Rings Sweater!

Harmonia's Rings Sweater

She shares the inspiration behind the transformation..."After many requests, the Harmonia’s Rings Cowl has been re-engineered to fit seven sizes. The addition of a fitted body to the drapey yoke makes a world of difference! Because of the drape of the yoke, this design accommodates a wide range of body types."

Wear this lovely pullover alone or wear it layered… the perfect compliment to your wardrobe through the seasons, and it would make a very special gift for a well deserving friend.

Sock knitting is perfect for this hot weather, they're small and travel well and they also make very thoughtful gifts.
Beaded Faux Cable Anklets

Try one of these new designs by HeartStrings FiberArts, for the women on your gift list knit a pair of the Beaded Faux Cable Anklets, a textured knit-purl stitch pattern and enhanced with beads created with only one skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, which is 10% Off right now!
Johnny Socks

And for the men the Johnny Socks, this classic pair of socks features embossed ribs and diamonds.

Isabella

And the versatile Isabella pattern, a hat, mittens and scarf set by Through The Loops, is an easy knit in a sophisticated stitch design that suits a wide variety of personal tastes and styles. And it only takes 3 skeins of Malabrigo Merino Worsted , which is also 10% Off, to work the entire set!

Ysolda Teague Patterns Giveaway

Its finally here!
From innovative designer Ysolda Teague comes the new pattern book,
Little Red in the City
.

Months, or in the case of one sweater, years, in the making it’s now almost here. Part pattern collection featuring 7 sweaters, part resource book Ysolda shares all of her tips for creating successful sweaters that perfectly fit your body.

And the book includes instructions how to access the PDF files for the patterns.

Ysolda designed each pattern with different body types in mind and here she shares her inspiration..."One thing that’s always bothered me is that it’s great to find a pattern that includes your size but if you’re not close to the size of the model it can be hard to visualise how it’s actually going to look on you. No matter what grading decisions the designer makes, the same pattern is always going to look different with different proportions.

When I first thought of doing a book of garment patterns I knew immediately that I wanted to show everything on at least two different models, with different sizes and body shapes. Last year at Tnna I happened to mention this plan and that I wanted to find a model who was actually plus size (as opposed to the modeling world’s idea of plus which is about a 38″ bust) to my friend Amanda who works for Lorna’s Laces and she immediately offered to model. I really hope that you agree that these designs look equally good on both of us and I hope it helps you envision how they'll look on you."

Little Red is now in stock available to be ordered immediately!

And to celebrate the arrival of Ysolda's new book I'm hosting a giveaway for three of her all time favorite patterns: Ishbel, Elijah and Liesel. There will be three winners and each winner will be able to select the pattern they want.

Army of Knitters' NEW Summer 2011 Collection

Heather of Army of Knitters Summer 2011 collection is inspired by Victorian undergarments, this all-white extra-feminine collection is filled with lace, ruffles and ribbons. As the Summer weather heats up, help temperatures rise in these super-sexy knits and add some of your own personality to one of these looks by knitting it in your favorite color. Let down your hair, throw off your shoes and shimmy your way through those hot Summer days and nights!

Nell

Nell is the perfect little cardi to wear over a pretty Summer dress. Worked from the bottom up, Nell starts with a dramatic lace border, topped in an eyelet row through which to thread a lightweight ribbon at the front. The elbow length sleeves have the same lacy border and ribbon trim to complement the body.

Nell

Violet

And Heather tell us, "I couldn’t design a collection based on Victorian undies without my version of a corset!" And Violet fits this bill perfectly with its snap front closure as well as its laced up back.

Frieda

Frieda is a lightweight and dreamily soft scarf which can also be worn as a shawl. The simple to remember lace pattern adds just enough detail to keep the knitting interesting and the layered ruffles and ribbon bows add a romantically girly touch.

Hattie

And Hattie is a sexy dress worked in the round from the bottom up that was inspired by a Victorian era nightgown. Bands of lace give the fabric textural interest while delicate satin ribbons are threaded through eyelets and tied into pretty bows which along with lace shoulder straps and button placket finish this piece with just the right amount of sweet girlishness.

Agnes

Inspired by Victorian era underskirts Agnes is worked from the top down. Cables border a ribbed section at the front, and layers of flirty, ruffles at the back to give a bustle effect. Designed to be worn with the matching Violet corset, Agnes looks fabulous dressed up or down, especially if you have a wiggle in your walk.

Agnes

Flora

Flora is a double V-neck dress worked bottom up and in the round. The large scale lace trim at the bottom edge is also inspired by Victorian era undergarments.

Visit Army of Knitters to see all of Heather's Collections. And all patterns are sold as PDFs that are emailed to you after purchase with no shipping fees.
