Ravelry KALs
Knitters from across the country and around the globe have been enjoying themselves in one, or more, of the many KALs happening in my Ravelry group, Sandrasingh.com. Many of these talented fiber artists were gracious enough to allow me to share their work with you.
Through The Loops' hat, scarf and mitten set Isabella has been a big hit. Among the many participates, the Maddcrocheter has knit the scarf in some fun color combinations. The red and pink scarf above is knit in Malabrigo Merino Worsted Ravelry Red with Damask while her blue and brown scarf below is done in Knitpicks' Swish Worsted.
The Super Bulky Winter Vest by Lisa Ellis Designs has also been a popular project. SnookiesOz, out of Lancaster, PA, was kind enough to share her beautiful work with us, shown blocking above and modeled by her lovely daughter below.
SnookiesOz has been a very busy knitter! She also joined us for the Desert Rose Designs' Pamper Yourself Spa Collection KAL and her lovely set is shown below in Lily Sugar'n Cream Ombres & Prints and knit on size US 5 (3.75mm) needles.
Turns out knitters everywhere love vampires almost as much as they love KALs! In honor of our favorite HBO series, True Blood a group of us decided to knit the Ficklekniter's Versacowl to protect our necks from love bites.
From across the pond in England Tootsie2121 knit her stunning Versacowl (above) in Malabrigo Merino Worsted Sealing Wax on size US 7 (4.5mm) needles.
And Chayalaura, from upstate NY, knit her gorgeous Versacowl (above) in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino also on size US 7 needles.
The Texasknitster, from Dallas, TX, has also been a very busy knitter! First she knit her Versacowl (above) in Sublime Yarns Extra Fine Merino Wool DK on size US (4mm) needles.
Then she decided to participate in our Tangled Vine Socks KAL (by Chrissy Gardiner of Gardiner Yarn Works) and knit her pair in Malabrigo Sock Tiziano Red on size US 0 (2mm) needles.
She than decided to pick up 3 skeins of Schaefer's Anne and start a KAL for the Murphy's Lace circular shawl. Her Murphy's Lace, modeled here on her daughter, looks absolutely gorgeous.
And now she's knitting the Desert Rose Shawl, by Renee Leverington of Goddess Knits. The Texasknitster is working her shawl in The Alpaca Yarn Company's Suri Elegance Blue Blood Red, shown above.
She's in good company for this KAL, Ginih of Allen, TX is also knitting her Desert Rose (above) in Suri Elegance Pearl Harbor on size US 4 (3.5mm) and its looking beautiful.
And the talented Susieb327 from Columbus, OH is in this KAL too and she's working her shawl in Alpaca Silky Lace in a pretty Slate Blue color, above.
And our newest KAL is Chrissy Gardiner's Birch, this entrelac and lace piece can be knit as a wrap, stole or scarf.
AngMac, the hand painter extraordinaire of Serendipitous Ewe, is working her Birch in her own Lucky Sock in the colorway Flock (shown above) on size US 4 (3.5mm) needles. The color is doing it justice!
Thank you everyone for letting me share all of your brilliant work!
These KALs are open to all Sandrasingh.com customers and we'd love to have you pick up your knitting needles and join us.

February 2010 Newsletter

Sweet February...the snow is deep but love is in the air. To help you celebrate the 6 more weeks of winter and your precious "Knit for Me Time," I offer you these decadent new lace patterns & yarns, ethereal garments and lusciously warm slippers for your knitting and crocheting pleasure.
In This Issue: Love Your Lace / Thousand Branches Kimono and Woven Woods / Felted Slippers: A Warm Embrace for Your Feet / Cherry Tree Hill Yarn Specials /
Love Your Lace
I'm happy to announce that I've just added the yarns and lace patterns of Jojoland to my website! And for 2010 The Schaefer Yarn Company has introduced a new fingering weight yarn. Plus knitwear designer Sivia Harding has released new designs.Introducing lace weight Consonance, a decadently soft blend of 50% Cashmere & 50% Silk and fingering weight Melody Superwash crafted of 100% machine washable wool. Both of these Jojoland yarns are perfect for creating lace projects such as the Swirl Shawl knit in Melody Superwash and the Vine and Flower and Grape Vines stoles knit in Consonance.
Meet Schaefer's dreamy new fiber creation Audrey. Audrey is a 1 ply fingering weight crafted of 50% cultivated silk and 50% merino wool. It has the drape and sheen lace knitters covet.

And you'll adore Sivia Harding's 5 new lacey creations! Celebrate Valentine's Day with her Heart To Heart Scarf, this crescent shaped scarf has a heart lace border that is as sweet as pie! And wrap yourself up in a garden with her Hanging Garden Stole. An ethereal delight, this intricately patterned rectangular lace stole features beaded cast on and bind off edges.
The unique shaping of the beautifully patterned Waves in the Square Shawl ensure a comfortable, stable fit. The shawl consists of three equal sections of graceful “Print o’ the Wave” and a beaded picot border. There's nothing simple about Sivia's elaborate, beaded Phoenix Rising Shawl. Its a variation on the basic top down triangle but a flame-like, textured center panel makes all the difference.
And finally her Follow the Leader Faroese Shawl gives you a supreme fit with a bit of garter lace. This top-down shawl features traditional Faroese shaping at the shoulder and back neck, producing a wonderful shoulder-hugging fit that stays on.

February is also the right time to knit yourself a garment, Jane Thornley's new book, Winter Forest Evocative Guide No. 4 will inspire you to do just that. Its an ode to this reflective season and to forests without leaves. Though two main designs are featured Woven Woods and Thousand Branches Kimono, the real story lies in what you can do with knitting these stitches in fresh ways. Use Jane's designs as offered canvases or find your own by exploring subtle color flows with linen or ombre seed stitches. A vest, a cowlet and a kimono – perhaps you can unfold them anew.

Felted Slippers: A Warm Embrace for Your Feet
And February also has you warm inside snuggling on the couch, the perfect time to create a new pair of slippers, match them to your favorite robe or pajamas or just go with the colors you love most.
Freshstitches brings you two new boot designs, Yuki a pair of knit and felted boots and
Calli a pair of crocheted and felted boots. The soles of these boots are not knit or crocheted, and as such, this design is perfect for outdoor soling!
Knotsewcute's crocheted Felted Adult Slip-ons are warm and comfy! While their Felted Toddler Slip-ons will keep your little ones' toes warm & cozy.
Pick Up Sticks snuggly soft felted boots Snugs are knit and felted boots that come in children and adult sizes. They are true boots that keep their shape when you take them off. Available as a Kit or a Pattern.
To make shopping for your next slipper pattern easier I've organized them all in the Slippers section.
Cherry Tree Hill Yarn Specials
And finally I'm no longer carrying Cherry Tree Hill yarn. All my remaining inventory is now 30-40% Off and Patterns are On Sale for only $3. While supplies last you'll get a Free Pattern with any yarn purchase!

Sandra Singh
